Here I am sipping hot chocolate and nibbling home-made pineapple tarts sent by my dearest aunt whom I am eternally indebted to, its 5.34pm in Hertfordshire and I’ve just gotten back from my Mise en scène class.---Ok now that sentence was like a week old and a stellar example of my awful habit to start an entry and then to abandon it within a heartbeat. Now to a solid, hearty entry chockful of words and whatnot.. Its Friday, post-Valentine’s day and despite the fact that I’ve never celebrated it with anyone romantically special in my life, hanging out with my friends was such fun. We stuffed ourselves with brilliant Indian fare and we were very content indeed with our loot from this bookstore I chanced upon. Now, I’m wondering how I could possibly bring this big, fat hardcover edition of The Canterbury Tales, which I had positively swooned at the sight of, back to Singapore. Ah, who cares when it’s something worth it all eh? I hate to admit it but the night of indulgence continued in the form of ice cream and copious amounts of rum with ginger ale while we were watching After The Wedding, a danish film I picked out. Mads Mikkelsen was good but definitely better in Adams æbler. On to the work front, I honestly haven’t written properly for the longest time and I subconsciously agree with myself that the hibernating brew of creative juices lodged somewhere in my skull needs to simmer once again. I need to get the next 500 words pouring out of me before I meet my tutorial group for the next seminar, redraft my producing schedules and treatment and start on yet another essay. Hmm.. to sum it all up, it has been a month filled with surprises, paranoia, comic relief and dare I say it, some oddly shaped form of happiness that sort of elucidates the other things in my life. I’m not sure if it does justice to the scattered events highlighting my time here in the Uk so far such as the trips to London, the mini-CNY reunion dinner I prepared to celebrate with Grace, Aida and Rahul and the unforgettable night I caught Explosions In The Sky with Nick but yeah, so far, its been a blast. It’s now close to 7 and I probably have to head off to warm up the barley I brewed earlier for Grace and then cook dinner. Falling ill isn’t something to be trifled with and I do hope she gets better soon. Alright, I shall hand it over to let the pictures in the next entry to do the regaling then.
